When Dawn Decays

When you’re dead, you’re dead.
At least, that’s what Elsie Wallis believed.
Six years after Corporal David Wallis died, his family are still learning to live without him. Elsie has raised their daughter alone. Jessica knows her father only through photographs and stories.
So when David comes home, he should be a miracle.
Except dead men don’t come home.
And this thing knows things David should know.
Elsie and Jessica begin to remember a life they never lived. Family holidays that never happened. Conversations that never took place. Happy memories with a husband and father who was already dead.
Then David asks for something.
An old family heirloom.
He says it can bring him back properly.
He says they can be a family again.
But something is wrong with David.
He cannot eat. He cannot walk beneath the sun. Other people cannot see him.
And sometimes, when Elsie looks at her husband, she sees somebody else looking back.
As impossible memories become indistinguishable from reality, Elsie and Jessica are drawn towards Drake’s Island, Buckland Abbey and a secret that should have died with the war.
